Test criteria
In the test, skin cells are used to record the effects of cell-damaging substances that can be released when wearing the test material.
The test of skin tolerance is carried out in accordance with the protocol AW-QM-11.08.03.059 based on standard DIN EN ISO 10993-5. The Hohenstein Laboratories have DAkkS accreditation for this test.
For the test an extract of the test material is produced which is cultivated over 24 hours with L929 skin cells in different concentrations. The viability of the cells and/or the potential cell-toxic effect of the test material is determined in a quantitive manner in comparison to control cultures. In doing this, a reduction in vitality of more than 30% in comparison to the extracting agent control is classified as a clear cell-damaging effect.
The quality label is subject to a test report with detailed results.
