There may be times when your particular requirements and customer expectations go beyond statutory guidelines.
Are you worried about being targeted by NGO campaigns? We’ll help you conduct the right testing. And to ensure you really stand out in the market, we can conduct testing on factors that go beyond conventional standards, even allowing you to promote specific topics in campaigns or programmes.
Benefit on the market from a strong partner for neutral proof of conformity.
Whether it is the tensile strength of upholstery fabrics, the colour fastness of textiles or the testing of clothing for human-ecological product safety: Independent quality assessments and compliance with harmful substance limit values play an important role in positioning on the market.
Our textile technology and chemical tests help you to comply with international standards, legal regulations and individual customer requirements. In particular, tests for harmful substances ensure effective consumer protection against chemicals that are used in textile production and can be detected as residues in the product.
We carry out our tests on raw, intermediate and end products of all processing stages of the textile production chain, including leather products and accessories. They are aimed not only at brand owners, retailers and textile producers, but also at importers and processors.
Our textile tests are as individual as your requirements.
Our textile testing determines conformity with legal requirements, standards, international specifications and internal quality guidelines.
Textile technology testing
- Quality testing (colour fastness, fibre fineness, dimensional stability, strength of fabrics)
- Performance testing (such as water resistance, waterproofness, breathability/permeability to air, pilling, washing tests, etc.)
- Determination of fibre composition (Textile Labelling Act)
Testing for chemicals and harmful substances
- Validation of legal conformity and product requirements that go beyond statutory needs (such as testing for harmful substances according to REACH, CPSIA and individual RSLs)
- Wastewater and sludge testing according to individual requirements (ZDHC, OEKO-TEX®, Greenpeace)
- Preparation of expert reports in the case of claims
- OEKO-TEX® certification
Textile labelling and fibre composition
Determining the qualitative and quantitative attributes of yarns and fabrics is crucial if you want to identify materials correctly in accordance with EU textile labelling directives.
We identify fibres and determine their properties in three ways – by using microscopes, mechanical testing or chemical testing.
Quality assurance through on-site inspection service
Hohenstein offers a variety of inspection modules that help eliminate processing errors across all production phases. This ensures a consistently high material and product quality.
With the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, we offer you a worldwide, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as any accessory materials used.
The test criteria are updated annually in line with the latest market developments and legal requirements, so that you are always on the safe side and therefore legally compliant with your products without having to devote your own resources for them.
RSL and MRSL testing
We test your products such as textiles or leather articles as well as chemicals for use in textile and leather production in accordance with the specifications of various international Restricted Substance Lists (RSLs) or Manufacturing Restricted Substance Lists (MRSLs).
